The Garga-samhita Verse 1.19.8, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 19 (Breaking of the Two Arjuna Trees) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

आदाय यद् यद् बहु दाम तत् तत्
स्व्-अल्पं प्रभूतं स्व-सुते यशोदा
गुणैर् न बद्धः प्रकृतेः परो यः
कथं स बद्धो भवतीह दाम्ना

ādāya yad yad bahu dāma tat tat
sv-alpaṃ prabhūtaṃ sva-sute yaśodā
guṇair na baddhaḥ prakṛteḥ paro yaḥ
kathaṃ sa baddho bhavatīha dāmnā

ādāyataking; yad yat—whatever; bahugreat; dāmarope; tat tat—that; su—very; alpamsmall; prabhūtam—become; sva-sute—on her son; yaśodāYaśodā; guṇaiḥ—with ropes; na—not; baddhaḥ—bound; prakṛteḥ—the material world; paraḥ—above; yaḥ—who; katham—how?; saḥ—He; baddhaḥ—bound; bhavatiis; iha—here; dāmnā—with rope.

English translation of verse 1.19.8:

The ropes all became very small on her son. He who is beyond the material world cannot be bound with rope. How can He be bound with rope?
