The Garga-samhita Verse 1.19.6, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 19 (Breaking of the Two Arjuna Trees) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

पलायमानं स्व-सुतं यशोदा
प्रभावती प्राप न हस्त-मात्रात्
योगीश्वराणाम् अपि यो दुरापः
कथं सा मातुर् ग्रहणे प्रयाति

palāyamānaṃ sva-sutaṃ yaśodā
prabhāvatī prāpa na hasta-mātrāt
yogīśvarāṇām api yo durāpaḥ
kathaṃ sā mātur grahaṇe prayāti

palāyamānam—fleeing; sva—own; sutam—son; yaśodāYaśodā; prabhāvatīsplendid; prāpaattained; na—not; hasta—a hand; mātrāt—only; yogiof the yogīs; īśvarāṇām—of the kings; api—also; yaḥ—who; durāpaḥ—cannot be attained; katham—how?; saḥ—He; mātuḥ—of His mother; grahaṇe—in the grip; prayātigoes.

English translation of verse 1.19.6:

Beautiful Yaśodā could not catch her fleeing son, for He was always a hand's length away. Even the kings of the yogīs cannot attain Him. Why should He fall in His mother's grip?
