अपवादो यदा देयो
निर्वासं कुरु मे पुरात्
युष्मत्-पुत्र-कृतं चौर्यं
अस्मत्-पुत्र-कृतं भवेत्
apavādo yadā deyo
nirvāsaṃ kuru me purāt
yuṣmat-putra-kṛtaṃ cauryaṃ
asmat-putra-kṛtaṃ bhavet
apavādaḥ—the account of His offense; yadā—when; deyaḥ—given; nirvāsam—sending away; kuru—do; me—of me; purāt—from the house; yuṣmat—your; putra—son; kṛtam—done; cauryam—theft; asmat—my; putra—son; kṛtam—done; bhavet—may be.
English translation of verse 1.17.37:
"When it may be said my son has done mischief you may throw Him out of my house. Your son did the theft you say my son did."
