The Garga-samhita Verse 1.17.20, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 17 (Description of the Yogurt Theft) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

नाहं वदामि चानेन
स्तेयं कुत्रापि शिक्षितम्
शिक्षं करोषि न सुते
नवनीत-मुषि स्वतः

nāhaṃ vadāmi cānena
steyaṃ kutrāpi śikṣitam
śikṣaṃ karoṣi na sute
navanīta-muṣi svataḥ

na—not; aham—I; vadāmi—say; ca—also; anenaby Him; steyam—to be stolen; kutrāpi—somewhere; śikṣitam—taught; śikṣam—teaching; karoṣi—you do; na—not; sute—to your son; navanītabutter; muṣistealing; svataḥ—by Himself.

English translation of verse 1.17.20:

I don't say you taught Him to steal. You didn't teach Him. Your son steals butter on His own.
