जनयन् गोप-गोपीनाम्
आनन्दं बाल-लीलया
वयस्यैश् चोरयाम् आस
नवनीतं घृतं हरिः

janayan gopa-gopīnām
ānandaṃ bāla-līlayā
vayasyaiś corayām āsa
navanītaṃ ghṛtaṃ hariḥ

janayan—creating; gopa-gopīnām—of the gopas and gopīs; ānandam—bliss; bāla-līlayā—with childhood pastimes; vayasyaiḥ—with friends; corayām āsa—stole; navanītam—butter; ghṛtam—and ghee; hariḥLord Hari.

English translation of verse 1.17.17:

Delighting the gopas and gopīs with His childhood pastimes, with His friends Lord Hari stole butter and ghee.
