बालं मुकुन्दम् अति-सुन्दर-बाल-केलिं
दृष्ट्वा परं मुदम् अवापुर् अतीव गोप्यः
श्री-नन्द-राज-व्रजम् एत्य गृहं विहाय
सर्वास् तु विस्मृत-गृहाः सुख-विग्रहास् ताः
bālaṃ mukundam ati-sundara-bāla-keliṃ
dṛṣṭvā paraṃ mudam avāpur atīva gopyaḥ
śrī-nanda-rāja-vrajam etya gṛhaṃ vihāya
sarvās tu vismṛta-gṛhāḥ sukha-vigrahās tāḥ
bālam—child; mukundam—Mukunda; ati-sundara—very handsome; bāla—childhood; kelim—pastimes; dṛṣṭvā—seeing; param—great; mudam—happiness; avāpuḥ—attained; atīva—great; gopyaḥ—gopīs; śrī-nanda-rāja-vrajam—the cowherd village of King Nanda; etya—attaining; gṛham—home; vihāya—leaving; sarvāḥ—all; tu—certainly; vismṛta—forgotten; gṛhāḥ—homes; sukha—happy; vigrahāḥ—forms; tāḥ—they.
English translation of verse 1.17.8:
Forgetting their homes, leaving them behind and coming to King Nanda's cowherd village, all the gopīs gazed at the charming and playful child Mukunda and became very happy.
