श्यामं च गौरं विदितं द्विधा महस्
तवैव साक्षात् पुरुषोत्तमोत्तमम्
गोलोक-धामाधिपतिं परेशं
परात् परं त्वं शरणं व्रजाम्य् अहम्
śyāmaṃ ca gauraṃ viditaṃ dvidhā mahas
tavaiva sākṣāt puruṣottamottamam
goloka-dhāmādhipatiṃ pareśaṃ
parāt paraṃ tvaṃ śaraṇaṃ vrajāmy aham
śyāmam—dark; ca—and; gauram—fair; viditam—known; dvidhā—in two; mahaḥ—splendor; tava—of You; eva—indeed; sākṣāt—directly; puruṣottamottamam—the Supreme Personality of Godhead; goloka-dhāma—the abode of Goloka; adhipatim—the master; pareśam—the Supreme Lord; parāt—than the greatest; param—greater; tvam—You; śaraṇaṃ vrajāmy aham—I take shelter.
English translation of verse 1.16.28:
I take shelter of You, who are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, greater than the greatest, the master of Goloka-dhāma, and who now appear as a fair and a dark splendor.
