सुवर्ण-रत्नादि-खचित्-पतैर् वृतं
पतत्-पताकावलिभिर् विराजितम्
सरः-स्फुटद्भिर् भ्रमरावलीढितैर्
विचर्चितं काञ्चन-चारु-पङ्कजैः
suvarṇa-ratnādi-khacit-patair vṛtaṃ
patat-patākāvalibhir virājitam
saraḥ-sphuṭadbhir bhramarāvalīḍhitair
vicarcitaṃ kāñcana-cāru-paṅkajaiḥ
suvarṇa—gold; ratna—jewels; ādi—beginning with; khacit—studded; paṭaiḥ—woth roofs; vṛtam—filled; patat—fluttering; patākā-avalibhiḥ—with rows of flags; virājitam—splendid; saraḥ—a lake; sphuṭadbhiḥ—blossoming; bhramara—by bees; avalīḍhitaiḥ—licked; vicarcitam—anointed; kā 24cana—golden; cāru—beautiful; paṅkajaiḥ—with lotus flowers.
English translation of verse 1.16.17:
It was filled with roofs of gold and jewels, splendid with fluttering flags, and anointed with beautiful blossoming lake-growing golden lotuses licked by swarms of black bees.
