The Garga-samhita Verse 1.15.33, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 15 (Revelation of the Universal Form to Nanda’s Wife) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

वसवश् चेन्द्रियाणीति
तद् देवश् चित्तम् एव हि
तस्मिन् यस् चेष्टते सो ऽपि
वासुदेव इति स्मृतः

vasavaś cendriyāṇīti
tad devaś cittam eva hi
tasmin yas ceṣṭate so 'pi
vāsudeva iti smṛtaḥ

vasavaḥvasu; ca—and; indriyāṇithe senses; iti—thus; tat devaḥdeva; cittam—the heart; eva—indeed; hi—indeed; tasmin—in that; yaḥ—who; ceṣṭate—acts; saḥ—He; api—also; vāsudevaVāsudeva; iti—thus; smṛtaḥ—remembered.

English translation of verse 1.15.33:

The word "vasu" means "the senses", and the word "deva" means "the heart".

Because He acts in the hearts and senses of the living entities, He is known as Vāsudeva.
