The Garga-samhita Verse 1.14.16, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. बालम् अङ्के सा गृहीत्वा
यशोदा ग्रह-शङ्किता
कारयाम् आस विधि-वद्
यज्ञं विप्रैः सु-तर्पितैः

bālam aṅke sā gṛhītvā
yaśodā graha-śaṅkitā
kārayām āsa vidhi-vad
yajñaṃ vipraiḥ su-tarpitaiḥ

bālam—the infant; aṅke—on the lap; sā—she; gṛhītvātaking; yaśodaYaśodā; grahaa ghost; śaṅkitāfearing; kārayām āsa—caused to be done; vidhi-vataccording to the rules; yajñam—a sacrifice; vipraiḥ—by the brāhmaṇas; su-tarpitaiḥ—pleased.

English translation of verse 1.14.16:

Fearing a ghost had come, Yaśodā took the infant on her lap, gave offerings to the brāhmaṇas and had them perform a traditional yajña.
