The Garga-samhita Verse 1.13.31, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 13 (The Liberation of Putana) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

एतादृशो यदि भवेद्
बालस् तं हि शुचि-स्मितम्
पाययामि स्तनं तेन
प्रसन्नं मे मनस् तदा

etādṛśo yadi bhaved
bālas taṃ hi śuci-smitam
pāyayāmi stanaṃ tena
prasannaṃ me manas tadā

etādṛśaḥ—like that; yadi—if; bhavet—would be; bālaḥboy; tam—Him; hi—certainly; śucipure; smitam—smile; pāyayāmi—I give to drink; stanam—breast; tena—by that; prasannam—happy; me—my; manaḥ—heart; tadāthen.

English translation of verse 1.13.31:

(She thought:) If I had a son like Him, then I would give that gloriously smiling son the milk from my breast to drink. In that way my heart would become happy.
