श्री-नारद उवाच
इत्थं महोद्भटा दुष्टा
दैतेयाः कंस-नोदिताः
दुद्रुवुः खं गवादिभ्यो
जघ्नुर् जातांस् च बालकान्

śrī-nārada uvāca
itthaṃ mahodbhaṭā duṣṭā
daiteyāḥ kaṃsa-noditāḥ
dudruvuḥ khaṃ gavādibhyo
jaghnur jātāṃs ca bālakān

śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; ittham—thus; mahāgreat; udbhaṭāḥ—powerful; duṣṭāḥwicked; daiteyāḥ—demons; kaṃsaby Kaṃsa; noditāḥ—sent; dudruvuḥ—ran; khamto the sky; gavaby the cows; ādibhyaḥ—headed; jaghnuḥ—killed; jātān—born; ca—also; bālakān—infants.

English translation of verse 1.11.72:

Śrī Nārada said: Sent by Kaṃsa, these powerful and sinful demons flew in the sky. They killed many newborn infants and many cows and other pious beings.
