सुर्येन्दु-वह्नि-सङ्काशो
वसुदेवो महा-मनाः
बभूवात्यन्त-महसा
साक्षाद् यज्ञ इवापरः

suryendu-vahni-saṅkāśo
vasudevo mahā-manāḥ
babhūvātyanta-mahasā
sākṣād yajña ivāparaḥ

suryasun; indumoon; vahnifire; saṅkāśaḥglorious; vasudevaḥVasudeva; mahā-manāḥthe great soul; babhūva—became; atyanta-mahasā—with great splendor; sākṣātdirectly; yajñaḥ—the Supreme Lord who is the master of all Vedic sacrifices; iva—like; aparaḥ—another.

English translation of verse 1.11.2:

The great soul Vasudeva shone with a glory like the sun, moon, and fire. He was like a double of the Supreme Lord, the master of all sacrifices.
