वसुदेवं देवकीं च
बद्ध्वाथ निगडैर् दृढैह्
ममर्द तं शिला-पृष्ठे
देवकी-गर्भजं शिशुम्
vasudevaṃ devakīṃ ca
baddhvātha nigaḍair dṛḍhaih
mamarda taṃ śilā-pṛṣṭhe
devakī-garbhajaṃ śiśum
vasudevam—Vasudeva; devakīm—Ddvakī; ca—and; baddhvā—binding; atha— then; nigaḍaih—in chains; dṛḍhaih—firm; mamarda—beat; tam—him; śilā—of stone; pṛṣṭhe—on the surface; devakī-garbhajaṃ śiśum—Devakī's son.
English translation of verse 1.10.12:
Kaṃsa tightly bound Vasudeva and Devakī in chains. Then he crushed Devakī's son against a stone surface.
