कंसं मरुद्-गणाः सर्वे
गृढ्र-पक्षैः स्फुरत्-प्रभैः
बाणौघैश् छादयाम् आसुः
प्रवृत्-सूर्यम् इवाम्बुदः
kaṃsaṃ marud-gaṇāḥ sarve
gṛḍhra-pakṣaiḥ sphurat-prabhaiḥ
bāṇaughaiś chādayām āsuḥ
pravṛt-sūryam ivāmbudaḥ
kaṃsaṃ—Kaṃsa; marud-gaṇāḥ—the Maruts; sarve—all; gṛḍhra-pakṣaiḥ—with the eagles' feathers; sphurat-prabhaiḥ—splendid; bāṇa—of arrows; aughais—a flood; chādayām āsuḥ—covered; pravṛt—monsoon; sūryam—sun; iva—like;
English translation of verse 1.7.38:
ambudaḥ—cloud.
Then all the Maruts coverd Kaṃsa with a great and splendid flood of gṛdhra-feathered arrows like a monsoon cloud covering the sun.
