कंसो गृहीत्वा परिघं
तटादांसे ऽसुर-द्विषः
तत्-प्रहारेण देवेन्द्रः
क्षणं मुर्छाम् अवाप ह
kaṃso gṛhītvā parighaṃ
taṭādāṃse 'sura-dviṣaḥ
tat-prahāreṇa devendraḥ
kṣaṇaṃ murchām avāpa ha
kaṃso—Kaṃsa; gṛhītvā—taking; parighaṃ—an iron club; taṭāda—struck;
English translation of verse 1.7.37:
aṃse—on the shoulder; asura-dviṣaḥ—Indra, the enemy of the demons; tat-prahāreṇa—by that blow; devendraḥ—the king of the demigods; kṣaṇaṃ—for a moment; murchām—unconsciousness; avāpa—attained; ha—indeed.
Taking an iron club, Kaṃsa struck Indra on the shoulder. Because of that blow, Indra, the king of the demigods and enemy of the demons, became momentarily unconscious.
