ततश् चीक्षेप दैत्याय
गदां नमुचि-सूदनः
चचार युद्धे विदलन्न्
अरीन् मातलि-सारथिः
tataś cīkṣepa daityāya
gadāṃ namuci-sūdanaḥ
cacāra yuddhe vidalann
arīn mātali-sārathiḥ
tatas—then; cīkṣepa—threw; daityāya—at the demon; gadāṃ—the club;
English translation of verse 1.7.36:
namuci-sūdanaḥ—Indra, the killer of Namuci; cacāra—went; yuddhe—in the fight; vidalan—breaking; arīn—the enemies; mātali-sārathiḥ—Indra, whose charioteer is Mātali.
Indra, the killer of Namuci, threw the club back at the demon. Then Indra, cutting his enemies to pieces, and his chariot driven by Mātali, went into the battle.
