The Garga-samhita Verse 1.7.12, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 7 (Description of the Conquest of All Directions) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

योद्धुं तम् उद्यतं बाणं
दृट्ट्वागत्य वृषध्वजः
सर्वान् सम्बोधयाम् आस
प्रोवाच बलि-नन्दनम्

yoddhuṃ tam udyataṃ bāṇaṃ
dṛṭṭvāgatya vṛṣadhvajaḥ
sarvān sambodhayām āsa
provāca bali-nandanam

yoddhum—to fight; tam—him; udyataṃ—eager; bāṇam—Bāṇa; dṛṭṭvā—seeing;

English translation of verse 1.7.12:

āgatya—coming; vṛṣadhvajaḥ—Lord Śiva; sarvān—everyone; sambodhayām āsa—

addressed; provāca—said; bali-nandanam—to Bāṇa, the son of Bali.

Seeing that Bāṇāsura was very eager to fight, Lord Śiva arrived, greeted everyone, and to Bali Mahārāja's son, Bāṇāsura, said:
