आकृष्य कर्ण-पर्यन्तं
शत-वारं ततान ह
प्रत्यञ्चास्फोटनेनैव
टङ्कारो ऽभूत् तडित्-स्वनः
ākṛṣya karṇa-paryantaṃ
śata-vāraṃ tatāna ha
pratyañcāsphoṭanenaiva
ṭaṅkāro 'bhūt taḍit-svanaḥ
ākṛṣya—drawing; karṇa-paryantam—to his ear; śata-vāram—a hundred times; tatāna—stretched; ha—indeed; pratyañca āsphoṭanena—by releasing the bowstring; eva—indeed; ṭaṅkāraḥ—twanging sound; abhūt—was; taḍit-svanaḥ—thunder.
English translation of verse 1.6.39:
A hundred times he drew the bowstring back to his ear and released it with a thunderous sound.
