धर्मिष्ठस् त्वं श्रुति-धरो
ऽधर्मवद् भाषसे कथम्
करं गृहित्वा त्यजसि
ततः पापम् अवाप्स्यसि

dharmiṣṭhas tvaṃ śruti-dharo
'dharmavad bhāṣase katham
karaṃ gṛhitvā tyajasi
tataḥ pāpam avāpsyasi

dharmiṣṭhaḥ—religious; tvam—You; śruti-dharaḥaware of the teachings of the Vedas; adharmavat—like an impious person; bhāṣase—You speak; katham—why?; karam—hand; gṛhitvā—taking; tyajasi—You reject; tataḥ—then; pāpam—sin; avāpsyasi—You will attain.

English translation of verse 1.4.65:

"You are a pious person. You know the teaching of the Vedas. Why do You speak as one who is impious? First You take our hand and then You reject us.

From this You will incur sin."
