अथ रामो वानरेन्द्रै
रावणादीन् निशाचरान्
जित्वा लङ्काम् एत्य सीता-
पुष्पकेन पुरं ययौ
atha rāmo vānarendrai
rāvaṇādīn niśācarān
jitvā laṅkām etya sītā-
puṣpakena puraṃ yayau
atha—then; rāmaḥ—Rāma; vānara—of monkeys; indraiḥ—with the kings; rāvaṇa-ādīn—beginning with rāvaṇa; niśācarān—demons, who move in the night; jitvā—defeating; laṅkām—Laṅkā; etya—going; sītā—Sītā; puṣpakena—on a flower-chariot; puram—to His own city; yayau—went.
English translation of verse 1.4.59:
Then, aided by the monkey-kings, Rāma defeated the nocturnal demons headed by Rāvaṇa, entered Laṅkā and, on a flower-chariot carrying Sītā, returned to His own city.
