The Garga-samhita Verse 1.4.50, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 4 (Description of Questions About the Lord’s Appearance) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

ऊचुस् ते ऽयं नु गोपालो
वंशी-वेत्रे विना प्रभुः
इत्थं विचार्य मनसा
नेमुश् चक्रुः स्तुतिं पराम्

ūcus te 'yaṃ nu gopālo
vaṃśī-vetre vinā prabhuḥ
itthaṃ vicārya manasā
nemuś cakruḥ stutiṃ parām

ūcuḥ—said; te—they; ayamHe; nu—indeed; gopālaḥis Gopāla; vaṃśīa flute; vetre—and stick; vināwithout; prabhuḥ—the Lord; ittham—thus; vicāryathinking; manasāwith their heart; nemuḥ—bowed down; cakruḥ—did; stutim—prayers; parām—great.

English translation of verse 1.4.50:

They said, "He is Lord Gopāla, who has come without His flute and stick."

Thinking in this way in their hearts, they bowed down and offered eloquent prayers.
