वीक्ष्य तं मोहम् आपन्ना
मूर्छिताः प्रेम-विह्वलाः
तेपुस् तपस् ताः सारायू-
तीरे राम-धृत-व्रताः
vīkṣya taṃ moham āpannā
mūrchitāḥ prema-vihvalāḥ
tepus tapas tāḥ sārāyū-
tīre rāma-dhṛta-vratāḥ
vīkṣya—seeing; tam—Him; moham—agitation; āpannāḥ—attained; mūrchitāḥ—fainted; prema—with love; vihvalāḥ—overcome; tepus tapaḥ—they performed austerities; tāḥ—they; sārāyū—of the Sarāyū river; tīre—on the shore; rāma-dhṛta-vratāḥ—with a vow to attain Lord Rāma.
English translation of verse 1.4.44:
Seeing Him, they become bewildered and fainted, overcome with love. With a vow to attain Lord Rāma they performed austerities on the Sarāyū's bank.
