तीर्थं दानं तपो शौचं
समाचरत तत्त्वतः
श्रद्धया परया भक्त्या
व्रजे गोप्यो भविष्यथ

tīrthaṃ dānaṃ tapo śaucaṃ
samācarata tattvataḥ
śraddhayā parayā bhaktyā
vraje gopyo bhaviṣyatha

tīrtham—pilgrimage; dānamcharity; tapaḥausterity; śaucam—cleanliness; samācarata—perform; tattvataḥin truth; śraddhayā—with faith; parayā—with great; bhaktyā—devotion; vraje—in Vraja; gopyaḥ—gopīs; bhaviṣyatha—you will become.

English translation of verse 1.4.39:

With great faith and devotion honestly go on pilgrimages, give charity, perform austerities, and follow the rules of cleanliness. Then you will become gopīs in Vraja.
