सीता-स्वयम्वरं गत्वा
धनुर्-भङ्गं चकार सः
उवाह जानकीं सीतां
रामो राजीव-लोचनः
sītā-svayamvaraṃ gatvā
dhanur-bhaṅgaṃ cakāra saḥ
uvāha jānakīṃ sītāṃ
rāmo rājīva-locanaḥ
sītā—of Sītā; svayamvaram—to the svayamvara; gatvā—having gone; dhanuḥ—of the bow; bhaṅgam—breaking; cakāra—did; saḥ—He; uvāha—married; jānakīm—Janaka's daughter; sītām—Sītā; rāmaḥ—Rāma; rājīva—lotus; locanaḥ—eyed.
English translation of verse 1.4.36:
Lotus-eyed Rāma went to Sītā's svayamvara, broke the bow, and married Janaka's daughter Sītā.
