The Garga-samhita Verse 1.3.19, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. श्रेयस्-करीं भगवतस् तव पाद-सेवां
हित्वाथ तीर्थ-यजनादि तपश् चरन्ति
ज्ञानेन ये च विदिता बहु-विघ्न-सङ्घैः
सन्ताडिताः किम् उ भवन्ति न ते कृतार्थाः

śreyas-karīṃ bhagavatas tava pāda-sevāṃ
hitvātha tīrtha-yajanādi tapaś caranti
jñānena ye ca viditā bahu-vighna-saṅghaiḥ
santāḍitāḥ kim u bhavanti na te kṛtārthāḥ

śreyasthe good; karīṃdoing; bhagavatasof the Lord; tava—of You; pādaof the feet; sevāṃthe service; hitvāabandoning; athathen; tīrthapilgrimage; yajanasacrifice; ādi—beginning; tapasausterity; caranti—perform; jñānena—with knowledge; ye—who; ca—and; viditāunderstood; bahu-vighna-saṅghaiḥ—with many great obstacles; santāḍitāḥ—struck; kim u—how miserably; bhavantiare; na—not; te—they; kṛtārthāḥ—successful.

English translation of verse 1.3.19:

O Lord, they who reject the auspicious service of Your feet, and instead visit holy places, perform sacrifices and austerities, and try to cultivate spiritual knowledge are beaten by a host of obstacles. How miserably will they fail.
