कदाचिन् नैमिषारण्ये
श्री-गर्गो ज्ञानिनां वरः
आययौ शौनकं द्रष्टुं
तेजस्वी योग-भास्करः
kadācin naimiṣāraṇye
śrī-gargo jñānināṃ varaḥ
āyayau śaunakaṃ draṣṭuṃ
tejasvī yoga-bhāskaraḥ
kadācit—one time; naimiṣāraṇye—in Naimiṣāraṇya; śrī-gargaḥ—Śrī Garga Muni; jñāninām—of the wise; varaḥ—the best; āyayau—went; śaunakam—Śaunaka; draṣṭum—to see; tejasvī—powerful; yoga—yoga; bhāskaraḥ—a splendid sun.
English translation of verse 1.1.4:
Once Śrī Garga Muni, who was the best of the wise, very powerful, and a brilliant sun of yoga, went to see Śaunaka Muni.
