Cidgaganacandrika 293 [Eternal operation of Samharakrama by Shakti], English comparative study extracted from the two available commentaries—the Divyacakorika and the Kramaprakashika. The Cidgagana-candrika is an important Tantric work belonging to the Krama system of Kashmir Shaivism. Written by Kalidasa (Shrivatsa) in 312 Sanskrit verses, it deals with the knowledge regarding both the Macrocosmic and Microcosmic phenomena

दिव्यवाहविभवोदरस्थितो रश्मिमण्डलसमुद्गमास्पदम् ।
अव्ययस्तव नवार्णविग्रहे संहृतिक्रम उदेत्यकल्पितः ॥ २९३ ॥

divyavāhavibhavodarasthito raśmimaṇḍalasamudgamāspadam |
avyayastava navārṇavigrahe saṃhṛtikrama udetyakalpitaḥ || 293 ||

Śakti is the very form of the nine letters, which denote her mantra in two aspects

  1. Lalita and
  2. Caṇḍi.

Lalita /Tripurasundari mantra is of two versions Kādi and Hādi vidyāṣoḍaśīmantra—with letters—“ka”, “e”, “ī”, “la”, “ha”, “ra”, “sa” (°) (Bindu) and Nāda.

Kādi pañcadaśi mantra[1] is

kaeīlahrīm hasakahalahrīm sakalahrīm.

Kāma (“ka”),
Yoni (“e”) ,
Kamalā (“ī”),
Vajrapāni-Indra (“la”),
Guhā (HRĪM),
(“ha” , “sa”) Varṇas Mātariśva,
Vāyu
(“ka”),
Abhra (“ha”),
Indra (“la”),
Punaḥ Guhā (HRĪM),
“sa”, “ka”, “la” Varṇas and
Māyā (HRĪM).

Hadi pañcadaśi mantra is:

hasakalahrīm hasakahalahrīm sakalahrīm

The second śrīvidyā mantra commencing with letter “ha” and therefore known as “Hādi vidyā”.

First tradition is known to have been followed by Kāma, is ascribed to the gurus:

  1. Parama-Śiva,
  2. Durvāsa,
  3. Hayagrīva and
  4. Agastya.

Tantraraja-tantra and Vāmakeśvara-tantra are its chief authorities. Second one is founded by Lopāmudra, wife of Agastya.The main text on which this tradition relies, is Tripuropaniṣat.

Caṇḍi mantra [is the following, which is the very popular Navarṇa mantra]:

aim hrim klim camundayai vicche

Divya vāha are the Prāṇās, which manifest along with Śakti, in her ascent in the Kramaśṛṣṭi, as pioneers. The reverse sequence in Saṃhāra krama is the bosom of Śakti. The constellation of the florescent elements abide in their source of brilliance in Saṃhārakrama. Saṃhāra brings about the mitigation of the the Soul, Time and Body of the empirical beings but as such it is indestructible. This shows the greatness of Śakti’s power of withdrawal which eternally operates as the supreme activity promoted by Kāli.
