জগতের হিতকারীবাসুদেব দত্ত সর্ব-ভূতে কৃপালু—চৈতন্য-রসে মত্ত ॥ ২০ ॥

जगतेर हितकारीवासुदेव दत्त सर्व-भूते कृपालु—चैतन्य-रसे मत्त ॥ २० ॥

jagatera hitakārīvāsudeva datta sarva-bhūte kṛpālu—caitanya-rase matta || 20 ||

jagatera hitakarivasudeva datta sarva-bhute krpalu—caitanya-rase matta (20)

English translation:

(20) Vāsudeva Datta was the benefactor of the entire world. He was compassionate to all living entities, and he was intoxicated by the mellows of love for Lord Caitanya.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

Vāsudeva Ṭhākura was the benefactor of everyone in this world, he was compassionate to all living entities, and he was intoxicated by the topmost of the five rasas described by Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya. Because he was a mahā-bhāgavata, he did not find faults in others, he was always eager to benefit others, and he had unflinching love for Śrī Hari, Guru,

and Vaiṣṇava. In the English language he would be called “a Greater Altruist.”
