The Chaitanya Bhagavata 2.23.12, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 12 of Madhya-khanda chapter 23—“Wandering about Navadvipa On the Day the Lord Delivered the Kazi”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 2.23.12:

ভয দেখাযেন সবে দেখিবার তরে অন্তরে নাহিক ভাগ্য, চাতুর্যে কি করে ॥ ১২ ॥

भय देखायेन सबे देखिबार तरे अन्तरे नाहिक भाग्य, चातुर्ये कि करे ॥ १२ ॥

bhaya dekhāyena sabe dekhibāra tare antare nāhika bhāgya, cāturye ki kare || 12 ||

bhaya dekhayena sabe dekhibara tare antare nahika bhagya, caturye ki kare (12)

English translation:

(12) They would threaten the devotees so that they could see the kīrtana. But because they were unfortunate, what could their cunning accomplish?

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

Because of the miscreants’ misfortune, the cunning they displayed to see Śrī Caitanyadeva’s most confidential saṅkīrtana pastimes by installing fear in the devotees was ineffective.
