The Chaitanya Bhagavata 2.21.67, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 67 of Madhya-khanda chapter 21—“The Lord’s Chastisement of Devananda”.

দেবানন্দ-দরশনে হৈল স্মরণ ক্রোধ-মুখে বলে প্রভু শচীর নন্দন “অযে অযে দেবানন্দ! বলি যে তোমারে তুমি এবে ভাগবত পডাও সবারে যে শ্রীবাসে দেখিতে গঙ্গার মনোরথ হেন-জন গেলাশুনিবারে ভাগবত কোন্ অপরাধে তানে শিষ্য হাথাইযা বাডীর বাহিরে লঞা এডিলাটানিযা? ভাগবত শুনিতে যে কান্দে কৃষ্ণ-রসে টানিযা ফেলিতে কি তাহার যোগ্য আইসে? ॥ ৬৭-০৭১ ॥

देवानन्द-दरशने हैल स्मरण क्रोध-मुखे बले प्रभु शचीर नन्दन “अये अये देवानन्द! बलि ये तोमारे तुमि एबे भागवत पडाओ सबारे ये श्रीवासे देखिते गङ्गार मनोरथ हेन-जन गेलाशुनिबारे भागवत कोन् अपराधे ताने शिष्य हाथाइया बाडीर बाहिरे लञा एडिलाटानिया? भागवत शुनिते ये कान्दे कृष्ण-रसे टानिया फेलिते कि ताहार योग्य आइसे? ॥ ६७-०७१ ॥

devānanda-daraśane haila smaraṇa krodha-mukhe bale prabhu śacīra nandana “aye aye devānanda! bali ye tomāre tumi ebe bhāgavata paḍāo sabāre ye śrīvāse dekhite gaṅgāra manoratha hena-jana gelāśunibāre bhāgavata kon aparādhe tāne śiṣya hāthāiyā bāḍīra bāhire lañā eḍilāṭāniyā? bhāgavata śunite ye kānde kṛṣṇa-rase ṭāniyā phelite ki tāhāra yogya āise? || 67-071 ||

devananda-darasane haila smarana krodha-mukhe bale prabhu sacira nandana “aye aye devananda! bali ye tomare tumi ebe bhagavata padao sabare ye srivase dekhite gangara manoratha hena-jana gelasunibare bhagavata kon aparadhe tane sisya hathaiya badira bahire lana edilataniya? bhagavata sunite ye kande krsna-rase taniya phelite ki tahara yogya aise? (67-071)

(67-071) As soon as the son of Śacī saw Devānanda, He immediately remembered this incident, and in an angry mood He said, “O

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

Devānanda, let Me tell you something. Now you are teaching Śrīmad Bhāgavatam to everyone. Śrīvāsa, whom even the Ganges desires to see, once went to hear Śrīmad Bhāgavatam from you. For what offense of his did you have your students throw him out of your house? Is it proper to throw out someone who after hearing Śrīmad Bhāgavatam is crying in love for Kṛṣṇa?

As soon as Gaurasundara saw Devānanda, He immediately remembered the harassment of His devotee and said, “By hearing the recitation of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, one’s heart melts. Only people who are engaged in enjoying the external world are able to maintain hard hearts. When the sentiments of Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita were at their climax, you and your students deprived him from the act of hearing Śrīmad Bhāgavatam because you did not understand him. Even Gaṅgādevī, who is carried on the head of Śiva, descends to this world in the form of a river to see a devotee like Śrīvāsa. Therefore the offense you committed by having your students forcibly throw Śrīvāsa out has made you completely averse to the Lord.

Why did you and your students consider the behavior of Śrīvāsa, the ideal devotee, as fit for condemnation?”
