The Chaitanya Bhagavata 2.232, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 232 of Madhya-khanda chapter 2—“The Lord’s Manifestation at the House of Shrivasa and the Inauguration of Sankirtana”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 2.232:

কেহ বলে,—“আরে ভাই! পডিল প্রমাদ শ্রীবাসের লাগি’ হৈল দেশের উত্সাদ ॥ ২৩২ ॥

केह बले,—“आरे भाइ! पडिल प्रमाद श्रीवासेर लागि’ हैल देशेर उत्साद ॥ २३२ ॥

keha bale,—“āre bhāi! paḍila pramāda śrīvāsera lāgi’ haila deśera utsāda || 232 ||

keha bale,—“are bhai! padila pramada srivasera lagi’ haila desera utsada (232)

English translation:

(232) Someone else said, “O brothers, we are doomed! Because of Śrīvāsa, the entire country will be ruined.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The word paḍila means “just arrived” or “just happened.” The word

pramāda means “danger” or “calamity.”

The word utsāda means “destruction” or “annihilation.”
