The Chaitanya Bhagavata 2.31, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 31 of Madhya-khanda chapter 2—“The Lord’s Manifestation at the House of Shrivasa and the Inauguration of Sankirtana”.
Verse 2.31
Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 2.31:
কেহ বলে,—“নিমাঞি-পণ্ডিত ভাল হৈলে তবে সঙ্কীর্তন করি’ মহা-কুতূহলে” ॥ ৩১ ॥
केह बले,—“निमाञि-पण्डित भाल हैले तबे सङ्कीर्तन करि’ महा-कुतूहले” ॥ ३१ ॥
keha bale,—“nimāñi-paṇḍita bhāla haile tabe saṅkīrtana kari’ mahā-kutūhale” || 31 ||
keha bale,—“nimani-pandita bhala haile tabe sankirtana kari’ maha-kutuhale” (31)
English translation:
(31) Someone said, “When Nimāi Paṇḍita becomes a devotee, then we will have tumultuous kīrtanas.”
Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:
The word bhāla refers to a nonenvious saintly person, a devotee, or a Vaiṣṇava.
