The Chaitanya Bhagavata 2.1.408, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 408 of Madhya-khanda chapter 1—“The Beginning of the Lord’s Manifestation and His Instructions on Krishna-sankirtana”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 2.1.408:

দিশা দেখাইযা প্রভু হাতে তালি দিযা আপনে কীর্তন করে শিষ্য-গণ লৈযা ॥ ৪০৮ ॥

दिशा देखाइया प्रभु हाते तालि दिया आपने कीर्तन करे शिष्य-गण लैया ॥ ४०८ ॥

diśā dekhāiyā prabhu hāte tāli diyā āpane kīrtana kare śiṣya-gaṇa laiyā || 408 ||

disa dekhaiya prabhu hate tali diya apane kirtana kare sisya-gana laiya (408)

English translation:

(408) The Lord then demonstrated for His students the process of kīrtana

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

by clapping His hands while chanting.

The phrase diśā dekhāiyā means “showed the direction,” “the process,” “the tradition,” “the method,” or “ascertaining the way.”
