The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.16.8, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 8 of Adi-khanda chapter 16—“The Glories of Shri Haridasa Thakura”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 1.16.8:

গীতা ভাগবত বা পডায যে-যে-জন তা’রা ও না বলে, না বলয কৃষ্ণ-সঙ্কীর্তন ॥ ৮ ॥

गीता भागवत वा पडाय ये-ये-जन ता’रा ओ ना बले, ना बलय कृष्ण-सङ्कीर्तन ॥ ८ ॥

gītā bhāgavata vā paḍāya ye-ye-jana tā’rā o nā bale, nā balaya kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtana || 8 ||

gita bhagavata va padaya ye-ye-jana ta’ra o na bale, na balaya krsna-sankirtana (8)

English translation:

(8) Even those who recited or heard Bhagavad-gītā or Śrīmad Bhāgavatam never engaged in saṅkīrtana.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

Even if some persons exhibited an attempt to teach Bhagavad-gītā or Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, in spite of studying these devotional scriptures, they never engaged in congregational chanting of the holy names, nor did they realize that such chanting was the only purport of the devotional scriptures, nor did they induce others to engage in congregational chanting.
