The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.12.26, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 26 of Adi-khanda chapter 12—“The Lord’s Wandering Throughout Navadvipa”.

হেন জন নাহিক যে প্রভু-সনে বোলে গদাধর ভাবে,—“আজি বর্তি পলাইলে!” ॥ ২৬ ॥
हेन जन नाहिक ये प्रभु-सने बोले गदाधर भावे,—“आजि वर्ति पलाइले!” ॥ २६ ॥
hena jana nāhika ye prabhu-sane bole gadādhara bhāve,—“āji varti palāile!” || 26 ||
hena jana nahika ye prabhu-sane bole gadadhara bhave,—“aji varti palaile!” (26)
English translation:
(26) No one even dared to speak with the Lord, and thus Gadādhara thought, “I’ll be relieved to get out of here!”
Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:
No one in the entire universe was qualified to face the Lord’s challenge or converse with Him. Gadādhara Paṇḍita thought, “I’ll be saved if I can run away from Him.”
The word varti (from the Sanskrit dhatu vṛt) means “I remain present,” “in this case I am spared,” or “I saved my life.”
