The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.6.1, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 1 of Adi-khanda chapter 6—“The Lord Begins Studying and His Childhood Mischief”.

Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 1.6.1:

হেন-মতে ক্রীডা করে গৌরাঙ্গ-গোপাল হাতে খডি দিবার হৈল আসি’ কাল ॥ ১ ॥

हेन-मते क्रीडा करे गौराङ्ग-गोपाल हाते खडि दिवार हैल आसि’ काल ॥ १ ॥

hena-mate krīḍā kare gaurāṅga-gopāla hāte khaḍi divāra haila āsi’ kāla || 1 ||

hena-mate krida kare gauranga-gopala hate khadi divara haila asi’ kala (1)

English translation:

(1) In this way Gaurāṅga, who is nondifferent from Gopāla, enjoyed His pastimes. Soon the time came for the Lord to begin reading and writing.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The word hāte-khaḍi refers to the saṃskāra marking the beginning of a

child’s education.
