The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.5.29, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 29 of Adi-khanda chapter 5—“Eating the Mendicant Brahmana’s Offerings”.
Verse 1.5.29-30
Bengali text, Devanagari and Unicode transliteration of verse 1.5.29-30:
বিপ্র বোলে,—“কর, মিশ্র, যে ইচ্ছা তোমার” হরিষে করিলা মিশ্র দিব্য উপহার রন্ধনের স্থান উপস্করি’ ভাল-মতে দিলেন সকল সজ্জ রন্ধন করিতে ॥ ২৯-৩০ ॥
विप्र बोले,—“कर, मिश्र, ये इच्छा तोमार” हरिषे करिला मिश्र दिव्य उपहार रन्धनेर स्थान उपस्करि’ भाल-मते दिलेन सकल सज्ज रन्धन करिते ॥ २९-३० ॥
vipra bole,—“kara, miśra, ye icchā tomāra” hariṣe karilā miśra divya upahāra randhanera sthāna upaskari’ bhāla-mate dilena sakala sajja randhana karite || 29-30 ||
vipra bole,—“kara, misra, ye iccha tomara” harise karila misra divya upahara randhanera sthana upaskari’ bhala-mate dilena sakala sajja randhana karite (29-30)
English translation:
(29-30) The brāhmaṇa replied, “Please do whatever you feel suitable.” Jagannātha Miśra then happily arranged all sorts of palatable ingredients. Jagannātha Miśra and Śacīdevī nicely cleaned the kitchen and kept all the ingredients ready for cooking.
Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:
In this verse the word upahāra means “arrangement,” the word upaskari’ means “cleaning with cow dung,” and the word sajja means “decoration,” “arrangement,” or “ingredients.”
