The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.3.42, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 42 of Adi-khanda chapter 3—“Calculation of the Lord’s Horoscope”.

জন্ম-যাত্রা-মহোত্সব, নিশায গ্রহণে আনন্দে করেন, কেহ মর্ম নাহি জানে ॥ ৪২ ॥

जन्म-यात्रा-महोत्सव, निशाय ग्रहणे आनन्दे करेन, केह मर्म नाहि जाने ॥ ४२ ॥

janma-yātrā-mahotsava, niśāya grahaṇe ānande karena, keha marma nāhi jāne || 42 ||

janma-yatra-mahotsava, nisaya grahane anande karena, keha marma nahi jane (42)

English translation:

(42) Everyone observed the festival of the Lord’s appearance while thinking they were celebrating the occasion of the eclipse.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

Since there was a lunar eclipse that night, many people unknowingly celebrated the appearance of Mahāprabhu. Although the celebrations were performed on account of the lunar eclipse, they were actually meant for the Lord’s appearance. Common men, however, did not understand

this fact.
