The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.2.66, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 66 of Adi-khanda chapter 2—“The Lord’s Appearance”.

ধন নষ্ট করে পুত্র কন্যার বিভায এই-মত জগতের ব্যর্থ কাল যায ॥ ৬৬ ॥
धन नष्ट करे पुत्र कन्यार विभाय एइ-मत जगतेर व्यर्थ काल याय ॥ ६६ ॥
dhana naṣṭa kare putra kanyāra vibhāya ei-mata jagatera vyartha kāla yāya || 66 ||
dhana nasta kare putra kanyara vibhaya ei-mata jagatera vyartha kala yaya (66)
English translation:
(66) People squandered money on the marriages of their sons and daughters. In this way they wasted their human lives.
Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:
Some people considered family life as the goal of life, and they thus spent large sums on the marriages of their sons and daughters. In this way they increased the happiness of those who were averse to Lord Hari. They concluded that getting their daughters and sons married is far better than worshiping the Supreme Lord, and in this way they simply wasted their time in mundane affairs.
