The Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.1.3, English translation, including a commentary (Gaudiya-bhasya). This text is similair to the Caitanya-caritamrita and narrates the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, proclaimed to be the direct incarnation of Krishna (as Bhagavan) This is verse 3 of Adi-khanda chapter 1—“Summary of Lord Gaura’s Pastimes”.

অবতীর্ণৌ স-কারুণ্যৌ পরিচ্ছিন্নৌ সদ্ ঈশ্বরৌ শ্রী কৃষ্ণ চৈতন্য-নিত্যানন্দৌ দ্বৌ ভ্রাতরৌ ভজে ॥ ৩ ॥

अवतीर्णौ स-कारुण्यौ परिच्छिन्नौ सद् ईश्वरौ श्री कृष्ण चैतन्य-नित्यानन्दौ द्वौ भ्रातरौ भजे ॥ ३ ॥

avatīrṇau sa-kāruṇyau paricchinnau sad īśvarau śrī kṛṣṇa caitanya-nityānandau dvau bhrātarau bhaje || 3 ||

avatirnau sa-karunyau paricchinnau sad isvarau sri krsna caitanya-nityanandau dvau bhratarau bhaje (3)

English translation:

(3) I worship the two brothers, Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya and Śrī Nityānanda, who have descended in this world as the supreme controllers. They have appeared in covered forms as the embodiments of mercy.

Commentary: Gauḍīya-bhāṣya by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura:

The word paricchinnau indicates that the spiritual pastimes of the svayaṃ-rūpa, original form of the Supreme Lord, and His svayam- prakāśa, first expansion, are full of spiritual variegatedness. Śrī Gaura- Nityānanda, or Śrī Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma, are nondifferent, yet They have accepted two forms as svayaṃ-rūpa and svayam-prakāśa.

Bhrātarau means “the two brothers.” Śrīmān Mahāprabhu and Nityānanda Prabhu did not play the role of seminal brothers. In order to

establish that there is no difference between the pastimes of the svayaṃ- rūpa and svayam-prakāśa, the transcendentalists address Them as brothers out of spiritual consideration.
