115. And in the ( stanza) 'Hither ' (upa : iii. 53. II) Visvamitra restored the Kusikas to consciousness (anubodhayat). gladdened at heart by receiving Speech he paid homage to those seers (the Jamadagnis), r, - _ upeti casyam mr' r', upeti casya b, upeti cakhyam hd, upeti yasya, upetya cakhyam 1, upetya vacam r', upa preteti (the fuller pratika) 9. - bubodhayat hmir, nvayojayat 9, nvacetiyat b, tvacet fk : the latter two readings probably stand for nvacetayat, as Rg-veda iii. 53. 11 contains the form cetayadhvam . I have corrected bubodhayat to nubodhayat, syllable could only be accounted for by (not ), and unaugmented forms are not uncommon in the Brihaddevata (e.g. above, II 3, avasidat) . - hrstatma hm 'rs, pratistatma b, prati- sthatma fk.-tanrsinpratyapujayat hm`rbfk, tanrsinanvacetayat ', ', jamadagrinapujayath . 116. himself praising Speech with the two stanzas 'Sasarpari' (sasarparih : ii. 53. 15, 16 ). ( With the stanzas) 'Strong' (sthirau : iii. 53. 17-20) (he praised ) the parts of the cart and the oxen, as he started for home. 116 ab cd comes before 11 zed in bfk.-°naduhasca bfkr˚, ॰naduham ca hm`r (RV.ii. 53. 18 has analutsu ): though all the MSS. have du, consistency requires lu in the text.- grhannrajan hm`r, grhanprajan b, grhatprajan f. - After 11604 bfkm'r (not hdr±r 3 r') add the line: anaso'ngani cotthapyanadvahi grhatmajau | 117. And then going home he deposited (thema there) in person (svasarirena).

158 But the four stanzas which follow (iii. 53. 21-24 ) are traditionally held to be hostile to the Vasisthas b. tatasca bfkr, tanvasca hdm'. - svasarirena bfk, svasariram ca r, svam sariram ca hdm'.- achavparidade m', akvyaridade hd (= gachanparidade ), sa svayamapa ha 1, sva samapa ha b, sa samapa ha f. - The following line is added in B after 11 yab: ratham ca svasarirena ' grhanchanparidade ' | 2 1 fkm'r, 0sariram ca b. br, acham fm', acham k. 3 bmfk, paradade r. This line and that which appears in B after 116 cd seem to be corruptions of the lines which they respectively follow, and which are common to A and B. Cp. Rg-veda iii. 53.20: u grhebhyah .. vimocanat, 'until we reach home and unyoke. ' On 117 ed-119 cp. They were pronounced by Visvamitra; they are traditionally held to be imprecations' (abhisapa). They are pronounced to be hostile to enemies a and magical (abhicarika) incantations. tah prokta bfk, tu prokta 113141°2, yah prokta hm`r (ep. Sarvanukramani: abhi- sapastah ).- The reading of rrged in the text is that of B; instead of it A has : dvidvesinyah smrta vidyadabhicaresu sabdyate . - dvisadvesastu, dvesadvesah stu b, vidvesinah hdm', vidvesinyah rrr 4 r°.- vidya caivabhicarikah b, vidyam caivabhicarih f. - The end of the varga is here marked by 23 in hdbfk.
