The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 2.3.113, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 2.3.113 contained in Chapter 3—Bhajana (loving service)—of Part two (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 2.3.113:

अत्रापि भगवन्तं यद् दृष्टवान् असि तादृशम् ।
सद्-गुरोः कृपया कृष्ण-दिदृक्षा-भर-कारितम् ॥ ११३ ॥

atrāpi bhagavantaṃ yad dṛṣṭavān asi tādṛśam |
sad-guroḥ kṛpayā kṛṣṇa-didṛkṣā-bhara-kāritam || 113 ||

atra–here; api–even; bhagavantam–the Lord; yat–which; dṛṣṭavān–seen; asi–you have; tādṛśam–such; sat-guroḥ–of your exalted guru; kṛpayā–by the mercy; kṛṣṇa–Śrī Kṛṣṇa; didṛkṣā–by the desire to see; bhara–great; kāritam–accomplished.

Only by the mercy of a bona fide guru have you seen the indescribably beautiful form of Bhagavān here. Indeed, you should understand that the desire to see Śrī Kṛṣṇa that has blossomed in you is also the result of your guru’s mercy.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Śrī Mahādeva says, “Even here in the abode of liberation you had the darśana of Śrī Bhagavān’s indescribably beautiful form. You should understand that this happened only by the mercy of sad-guru, your divine spiritual master, and that same mercy has also ignited your eagerness to see Śrī Kṛṣṇa.”
