Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 2.2.43:
यथा हि कोटि-गुणितं सम्राज्यात् सुखम् ऐन्द्रकम् ।
तत्-कोटि-गुणितं तत्र प्राजापत्यं सुखं मतम् ॥ ४३ ॥
yathā hi koṭi-guṇitaṃ samrājyāt sukham aindrakam |
tat-koṭi-guṇitaṃ tatra prājāpatyaṃ sukhaṃ matam || 43 ||
yathā–if; hi–indeed; koṭi–ten millions of times; guṇitam–multiplied; sāmrājyāt–from the kingdom; sukham–happiness; aindrikam–of Indra; tat–of that; koṭi–ten millions of times; guṇitam–multiplied; tatra–there; prājāpatyam–of those forefathers; sukham–happiness; matam–considered.
As the happiness of Indra is millions of times greater than that of an earthly emperor, so the happiness of a prajāpati is millions of times greater than that of Indra. Those who are wise have understood this.
Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda
(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)
Śrī Bṛhaspati replies, “The happiness enjoyed by one in the position of Indra is millions of times greater than that of a sovereign ruler of the entire earth. Similarly, the post of a prajāpati brings with it a happiness millions of times greater than that of Indra. The prajāpatis headed by Bhṛgu are posted in Maharloka. This has been understood by persons of great wisdom.”
