The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.7.76, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.7.76 contained in Chapter 7—Purna (pinnacle of excellent devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.7.76:

तद्-दुर्वचो निशम्यादौ देवक्योक्तम् अभिज्ञया ।
समस्त-जगद्-आधार-भवद्-आधार-भूतया ॥ ७६ ॥

tad-durvaco niśamyādau devakyoktam abhijñayā |
samasta-jagad-ādhāra-bhavad-ādhāra-bhūtayā || 76 ||

The wise and most judicious mother Devakī, the support of the entire world and the bearer of even Yourself, spoke after hearing these cruel words of Padmāvatī.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Upon hearing such cruel words from that old woman, whatever Śrī Devakī remarked was with great patience; that alone is highly appropriate. This is because she is the bearer of even You, Bhagavān, who is the support of the entire universe. Therefore, she is most judicious and wise.
