The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.7.55, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.7.55 contained in Chapter 7—Purna (pinnacle of excellent devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.7.55:

इत्य् एवं स-चमत्कारं मुहुर् जल्पन् महार्णवम् ।
पुरीं चालोचयन् प्रोक्तः श्रीमत्-सङ्कर्षणेन सः ॥ ५५ ॥

ity evaṃ sa-camatkāraṃ muhur jalpan mahārṇavam |
purīṃ cālocayan proktaḥ śrīmat-saṅkarṣaṇena saḥ || 55 ||

In this way, as Śrī Kṛṣṇa began to talk incoherently out of wonder and repeatedly look upon Dvārakā-purī and the ocean, then Śrī Saṅkarṣana (Śrī Baladeva) spoke.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Being astonished in this way, Bhagavān repeatedly began to reflect and glance eagerly again at the ocean and Dvārakāpurī. “On the contrary, is what I am seeing real or just an illusion?” He began to ponder repeatedly.
