The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.7.27, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.7.27 contained in Chapter 7—Purna (pinnacle of excellent devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.7.27:

उन्मील्य नेत्र-कमले संपश्यन् परितो भृशम् ।
स्मयमानः पुरो नन्दं दृष्ट्वा ह्रीणो ननाम तम् ॥ २७ ॥

unmīlya netra-kamale saṃpaśyan parito bhṛśam |
smayamānaḥ puro nandaṃ dṛṣṭvā hrīṇo nanāma tam || 27 ||

Śrī Kṛṣṇa opened His lotus eyes and began to gaze in all directions continuously. Thus seeing Śrī Nanda in front of Him, He offered praṇāma to him without any airs.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

After a long time His sleep broke and Śrī Kṛṣṇa saw Śrī Nanda before Him, then He sweetly smiled and unpretentiously offered him praṇāma. In the past in Vraja also, every morning He would offer obeisances to His father in this way. This was the custom.
