The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.6.97, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. तस्येहितम् अभिप्रेत्य प्राप्तोऽत्यन्तार्तिम् उद्धवः ।
व्रज-वासि-मनोऽभिज्ञोऽब्रवीत् स-शपथं रुदन् ॥ ९७ ॥

tasyehitam abhipretya prāpto'tyantārtim uddhavaḥ |
vraja-vāsi-mano'bhijño'bravīt sa-śapathaṃ rudan || 97 ||

Understanding the intent of Śrī Kṛṣṇa to send a letter to Vraja, Śrī Uddhava began to weep out of grave distress. He understood the sentiments of the hearts of the vraja-vāsīs, therefore with a show of confidence he thus began to speak.

Understanding Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s motive to send a letter, Śrī Uddhava became extremely perturbed and began weeping. He understood the sentiments of the hearts of the vraja-vāsīs;therefore, he began to speak with assurance.
