The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.6.68, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.6.68 contained in Chapter 6—Priyatama (the most beloved devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.6.68:

भ्रातर् उद्धव सर्वज्ञ प्रेष्ठ-श्रेष्ठ वद द्रुतम् ।
करवाणि किम् इत्य् अस्माच् छोकाब्धेर् मां समुद्धर ॥ ६८ ॥

bhrātar uddhava sarvajña preṣṭha-śreṣṭha vada drutam |
karavāṇi kim ity asmāc chokābdher māṃ samuddhara || 68 ||

O brother Uddhava, you know everything and are so precious to Me. Tell me at once, what should I do now? Save me from this ocean of sorrow.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Due to the rising force of such distress, Bhagavān is inquiring from Uddhava like a person who does not know his duty: “O brother Uddhava, you are the best among My dear devotees. Tell Me at once, what should I do now? Please deliver me from this ocean of distress.”
