The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.6.57, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.6.57 contained in Chapter 6—Priyatama (the most beloved devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.6.57:

श्री-परीक्षिद् उवाच—
अशक्तस् तद्-वचः सोढुं गोकुल-प्राण-बान्धवः ।
रोहिणी-नन्दनः श्रीमान् बलदेवो रुषाब्रवीत् ॥ ५७ ॥

śrī-parīkṣid uvāca
aśaktas tad-vacaḥ soḍhuṃ gokula-prāṇa-bāndhavaḥ |
rohiṇī-nandanaḥ śrīmān baladevo ruṣābravīt || 57 ||

Śrī Parīkṣit Mahārāja said: Overhearing these words of the queens, the son of Rohiṇī, Śrīman Baladevajī, brother of the life of the Gokula-vāsīs, began to speak angrily.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Śrī Baladeva could not tolerate the words of the queens such as Śrī Rukmiṇī, because Gokula and the Gokulavāsīs were His dearmost life and soul. The son of Śrī Rohiṇī pleased everyone with the words spoken by Him and, considering the words of the queens to be false, or understanding the trickery of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, began to speak angrily.
